Jeff Koons – size matters after all

Jeff Koons is known for his giant reproductions of banal objects produced in stainless steel with mirror finish surfaces. Koons’ work has sold for huge amounts and critics are sharply divided in their views of Koons. some see his work as pioneering and of major art-historical importance, others see his work as banal and cynical self-merchandizing. searching for a deeper meaning in Koons’ work is a waste of time, as he himself stated that there is no hidden meaning in his works.

Koons was married to italian porn star Cicciolina and in 1992 their only son Ludwig was born. at the time of the marriage Koons produced a series of paintings, photos and sculptures under the name Made in heaven, which portrayed the couple in explicit sexual positions.

whether you think Koons is a genious or not, you have to admit that if his art does not posses great artistic value for you, is a least great in size.

just saw on the news michael jackson has passed away. he was also one of  koons’ inspirations as you can see on the photo below. R.I.P.
